Kyle Beckerman

Kyle Beckerman was born and raised in Crofton, Maryland. He graduated from Arundel High School in Gambrills, Maryland, in 2000.

Beckerman’s career in Major League Soccer spanned 21 seasons, and he holds the league record for regular-season games played, games started, and minutes played by a field player. He played for the Miami Fusion, Colorado Rapids and, most notably, Real Salt Lake, where he was captain for 14 seasons. In 2009, he led RSL to win the MLS Cup Championship. He retired in 2020, the same year he was named one of “The 25 Greatest” players in the 25-year history of Major League Soccer.

In addition, Beckerman earned 58 caps with the U.S. Men’s National Team during his career. He won the Gold Cup with the U.S. in 2013, and was part of the 2014 World Cup team, where he started all three of the group stage games.

Beckerman is currently the men’s soccer head coach at Utah Valley University, a Division 1 program in the WAC Conference. He resides in Salt Lake City with his wife and two children. His parents still reside in Maryland.
